A few days ago, I was working on a chapter in my book called the dimensions of wealth. It explores all the different aspects of a joyously wealthy life, beyond just money. For example, one dimension I explore is relationship wealth–a life that is wealthy with connections and belonging.

As I was writing, I wondered what the origin of the word wealth is. I was stunned to find out that it is derived from the old English word, weal, meaning wellbeing. So, the word wealth actually means wellbeing!

The reactions I’ve had when I’ve shared this have been interesting. The most common have been: “Wow, that is profound.” “A gamechanger.”

For those of us struggling with our relationship with money, just the word “wealth” can bring up a lot of mixed feelings. For me, the idea of wealthy wellbeing feels so much lighter and a big reframe.

I was talking to a client yesterday who said, “I know you talk about dancing with money, but I can’t really relate to that, but I love the idea of a wealthy life as one of wellbeing.”

She shared how she made a choice to manifest wealthy wellbeing during a day trip over the border from Canada to the U.S.  “Crossing the border into the U.S., there was no line. But, when I looked on the other side coming back into Canada, there was a long line that snaked for blocks.

At first I was nervous, and was thinking to cut my time short, but I thought of the idea of wealthy wellbeing. I decided I was going to enjoy myself. I wanted to do some banking and a little shopping and not angst about what I would face trying to get home. So, I called in wealthy wellbeing for the day and really felt into the feeling of it. I chose to have it easy and filled with grace and delight. Amazingly, when I returned to the border, there were only two cars ahead of me.”

I invite you to play with the idea calling in wealthy wellbeing. Really feel into what it would feel like and practice sending it into your day. I would love to hear your results!
