Join us Thursday, April 11 HERE!
I recently had the privilege of meeting Wisper, famous graffiti artist at a local museum. He had been hired to create a series of panels highlighting the history of the town that I now live in, Lost Gatos.
His history and how art helped him heal is truly inspiring. I knew I had to have him as a guest to be able to tell his story and hopefully inspire you. He will be feature on Thursday April 11th at 10am pacific at the Café. As always you can see it on YouTube or listen on Spotify or any other podcast channel.
Wisper a self taught artist inspired by his mothers creativity as well as from comic book art. Began to draw at the age of 10. At the age of 14 he was heavily influenced by the hip-hop movement and began to do graffiti which led to him doing his first mural.
Knowing how hard it is as a youth to develop ones artistic abilities he began to collaborate with his childhood friend, Zach and two other educators at a local high school in San Jose. This led him to begin to establish what is now known as Together We Create.
Together We Create is an organization that does live painting at events. Contracted by promoters to create pieces of art live on location. TWC then contracts other artists to also create pieces of art. As well opens the door for the youth to also participate in painting at these events.
He designed his own curriculum called Teach People. Which teaches people how to create from a pace of peace rather than courage. This is achieved by practicing principles that are learned from art. He has taught this curriculum during summer programming of the Latino College prep academy. If one can learn how to operate from a place of peace in creating art then all one needs to do is transfer this learning into other areas of one’s life.
It is the goal of Wisper and Together We Create to impact others through the creation of art and to beautify the community.
